10 classes + an online catalogue of all your filmed scenes to watch!
A film and television scene analysis acting for camera class. Students will learn the art of on camera acting by practicing their skills in front of cameras in class and being able to watch their performances back. The instructor will pair students up in scenes from their favorite tv shows and films and provide coaching and feedback on each performance. Instructor will also discuss on camera acting techniques such as eye lines, hitting your mark, not over-acting, being yourself, serving the story, lighting sensitivity practicing, and more! If you want to get better at auditioning and acting for tv and film, this is the class for you!

Learn the art of how to make films! Work in front of and behind camera with professional filmmaker mentors at Spec Labs along with your peers.
You will be working with your fellow classmates of aspiring filmmakers/ actors/ writers/ etc. We will as a group, create a film and or TV script. Then we will cast the project, put together a crew, rehearse and go into production!
Whether your passion is in acting, script writing, camera work, directing, producing, editing, etc. Whatever your interest may be, this is the class to explore your talents in filmmaking and get to be a part of a Spec Lab Films project!

Do you want to write or act in comedy sketches, like Saturday Night Live, In Living Colour, Key & Peele, etc? Then this is the class for you!
Learn the art of sketch comedy writing and acting improvisational tools and methods taught at schools like The Groundlings, UCB, Second City, etc. Be a part of a comedy sketch and improv team which will enhance your socialization skills, help you gain confidence and self esteem, all while learning how to write, act and perform in front of an audience…and most importantly, having fun…and laughing...a lot.
This class is a writing and performing workshop, culminating with a LIVE SHOW at our anual Spec-O-Ween show in Hollywood in Fall and the Laugh Factory in Spring!

Improv Comedy Acting

Learn the art of improvisational comedy acting with your peers and trained improv teachers at Spec Labs. Be a part of a comedy improv team which will enhance your socialization skills, help you gain confidence and self esteem, all while learning how to act in the moment and perform on stage in front of an audience…and most importantly, having fun…and laughing...a lot.
This class culminates with a live Improv Comedy show at the end of the semester at The Victory Theatre!

Acting Reel Creation
Hybrid Course!
ONLINE & IN PERSON
Sundays 6-7:30pm
This 8 week class will work on strengthening your acting skills by creating short scenes that you will write with your peers to create for your acting reel.
We will also discuss the audition process, how to self tape and what it takes to be a working/ auditioning actor in the entertainment industry. We will then film your short scenes that you can use for your acting reel to develop your acting portfolio and build content you can showcase.
This class is for actors that are passionate about their acting craft and want to eventually audition for roles, get an agent, and work in the entartainment industry.

The Writer's Room

Jim Landis has been working in the Entertainment Industry for well over forty years in the fields of on-set production as well as writing. Jim is an award-winning writer who has had multiple musicals and plays produced, most recently an Equity production of his latest published play ‘FEAST OF FOOLS!’ at the Hudson Theatre in Los Angeles. Jim is thrilled to work with Spectrum Laboratories on this exciting new endeavor.

Meet your instructor!
William Pomeroy has been editing video for 25 years. From documentaries, to concerts and everything in between. William started with the very first version of Final Cut Pro, and has also mastered Adobe Premier Pro. He currently works in Hollywood as an actor and voice actor when he’s not teaching classes, or editing his own projects. Spectrum Labs is now his home for teaching voice acting and video editing, and he couldn’t be more proud to work with a better team of people.

For those of you who don't feel like a group class is your jam, or are not located in Los Angeles, we also offer some great options for private lessons for students at any level, whether you are just starting out and want to explore or are wanting to gain additional skills for whatever your passion may be in! We set up an introductory zoom meeting, to learn more about what your passion may be and we find a Spec Lab teacher to pair you up with to work one on one with you!
