Songwriting & Music Production
In this weekly 90 minute, hands-on workshop you'll write and record original songs at a professional music studio, be eligible for live performance opportunities, and gain resources for music distribution to release your songs to online stores and streaming platforms! Each member of the workshop will receive support and resources to be successful at their current level of experience.
All ages and abilities are eligible, a passion for music is required!
Singing Studio
This hour long workshop, led by our vocal coach extraordinaire Theresa Wegher-Thompson, will help singing students build their technique, expand their repertoire and develop stage presence. Two students will be partnered for each hour long class allowing for in-depth guidance, addressing each singer's vocal problem areas and carefully building upon their strengths. Students will be expected to attend in person for this class and there will be a culminating recital at the end of each term.
The Singing Studio will be led by your vocal coach Theresa Wegher-Thompson!

Spec Band
If you love to sing or play an instrument come join us and perform with the Spec Band! You'll play great songs, make friendships, develop your musicianship, and have an opportunity to perform in front of a live audience. Music will be adapted to each performer's playing level allowing you to contribute at any level in your musical journey. Instrumentalists and vocalists of all ages and abilities are welcome!

Music Video Production
This course will teach students all about the process of creating a brand new music video! Students can choose from their own recorded music, public domain recordings or a variety of Spec Lab songs, and learn to adapt the songs into the visual medium. Students will get the chance to direct, act, storyboard, and they so choose, even edit! This eight week course will teach the ins and outs of the filmmaking process, and give them the chance to tell their very own stories.

Music Scoring
Get hands on composing for projects at Spec Labs! This may include films, staged productions or animated videos. You'll receive training to work with a digital audio workstation, creating music in many styles and genres. Students are encouraged to have access to music software at home and a midi keyboard. Keyboard and software may be provided for an additional fee if needed. This class is open to all levels!

Studio Engineering
In this 6 week class you will learn how to setup and operate microphones, recording equipment and a digital audio workstation in a professional recording studio. You'll also get behind the desk to engineer recording sessions for musicians as well as voice actors, everything we produce professionally in-studio at Spectrum Laboratory! After attending this class students may be given opportunities to engineer during some Spectrum Laboratory projects, classes, and gigs.

DIY Music Marketing
For artists that have already recorded music this is an absolute must to get your music heard! Learn how to setup, manage and have fun with social platforms that are great for musical artists, like instagram, tik tok, and Youtube. You'll create original content that is true to who you are and learn how to tie it into your personal story and the music you've made. Consistency over time is key and in this class we'll establish a routine that works for you to grow your audience.
